🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Cerebral Thriller Merging Silent Hill and Among Us Gameplay The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed several intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "It's a unique game where a young woman harboring multiple personalities inside her needs to flee from a maze of the mind," states developer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of high school age. Inside her reside four distinct personas, all possessing unique anxieties and drives. These souls can seize control spontaneously, releasing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly. Judging by showcased gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a eerie medical facility, while additional clips depict the protagonist exploring a desolate church. An Environment of Individual Dread "What are you fearful of? What makes you uncomfortable?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that seem trivial to other people can activate a deep instinct inside us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are specific to every individual." The core mechanic involves managing the persona that surfaces at a particular moment. However, these identities will change involuntarily as you play. During exploration, each soul's anxieties become amplified and attack the protagonist in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision Initially, UN:Me displays noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is populated by nurses who all share the identical visage, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the waiting room have large blooms where their heads should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, contrasting organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular mechanic. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities haunting the protagonist is the "real" one. "Each of the personas asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," explains a developer. "During the game, you must determine who is real." After a player have deduced a persona is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. However, since every entity can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the true [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity remaining could be a fake. Either way, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a confirmed launch window, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
