Glenn shared that Boyd, currently in the hospital, was “in good spirits” during their recent conversation. “What reassures me, is that he’s in good spirits,” Glenn said Wednesday. “His family, they are holding up and he will come through this without issue.” The coach did not know when Boyd could be discharged the medical facility, where his condition is described as serious yet stable. “Not certain at the moment,” Glenn remarked. “Yet I must mention, from our conversation, he seemed very positive. Once more, that puts my mind at ease, because of his outlook and he expresses himself so positively.” New York police released surveillance images earlier this week of an individual wanted in the attack on the player. The reason behind the incident is still being looked into and authorities said it remains uncertain if Boyd was the intended victim. There were no additional victims according to reports. The incident occurred just after 2am on Sunday morning about halfway between Madison Square Garden and Times Square. Boyd, in his late twenties, was admitted to Bellevue Hospital after suffering a wound to the stomach, as reported. The assailant escaped. Glenn shared Boyd has been in his thoughts “a great deal” since learning of the incident. Glenn added that Boyd and his wife just had a child. “My initial concern, he just had a kid,” Glenn said. “And I’m thinking about his wife, considering his child and I want to make sure that he’s OK. That was my main concern. “There’s a process to this, I’ll keep private, but I’m happy at the fact that his outcome looks very positive.” Boyd hasn’t played during the current season, after joining the team, after his season was cut short due to injury on mid-August with an injury to his shoulder that required surgery. Boyd came to New York as a new signing in spring and was expected to be a significant contributor of the team’s updated special teams under the coach and ST coordinator Chris Banjo. However, he got hurt during a training camp practice on 2 August and had to be helped off. Boyd continued to be present all season long while working his way back. “He has stayed engaged with the team,” Glenn stated. “I mean, he comes to the games all the time. He’s fully engaged. As one of the league’s best on special teams, he has been instrumental in guiding others.” Boyd, from Texas, began his career with the Vikings after getting drafted in the seventh round by Minnesota out of the University of Texas in the 2019 draft. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and moved to Houston’s squad subsequently. Boyd signed a one-year contract worth $1.6m with the Jets in the spring.
