Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented. Regional Interceptions In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space. In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region. IRGC Statement The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning. That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government. Wider Impacts In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage. The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued. It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian. The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
